After doing much research and going back and forth I purchased a Mercury Optimax over an E-Tec. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The power, fuel economy and reliability have exceeded my expectations 10-fold. I used to be on the fence when it came to outboard motors but I will never own anything else but Mercury now.
